OUR STORY
Big Papa's was brought to life after a need was seen in the community for good quality, nutritious hot meals!! We began serving community meals every week, and as word spread, our community meals became extremely popular! A couple of our volunteers came up with a business idea to open a cafe so we could continue serving our community, building relationships, and doing what we love! A few years on and through all the changes that Covid brought with it, we now have the cafe back open 5 days a week. We look forward to connecting with our community through the comfort of good food and drink.

Big Papa's Kitchen is a café and a hub for the people in our community. We believe that Big Papa's is more than just food on a plate; it’s about building relationships, providing a welcoming & relaxed dining experience and keeping kai & coffee at a price that anyone can afford.

Our café is located in Papanui Christchurch, and is a beautiful space to catch up with friends, knock out some work, read a book, eat some good quality food, or simply, a place to waste some time!!

Free community meal open to anyone who wants to connect every Wednesday night!!
In 2021, we started to see a need in our community for hot, nutritious meals & a need for human connection. In collaboration with Northgate Community Services Trust, this is how our community meals were born! Every Wednesday evening at 5.30pm, we put on a meal for anyone in the community that needs a meal or wants to connect with other people. This has been extremely successful, and wish to continue providing this service for people! Come and hang out with us all while eating a wonderful meal!
